The Briarcliffe Fire Company is located in Delaware County Pennsylvania and has been devoted to serving the residents in the Briarcliffe section of Darby Township and our neighboring communities since 1954. Since our inception 54 years ago, we have been dedicated in providing Fire Protection and Emergency Medical Services. The fire company consists of 2 Engines, 1 Ambulance and 1 Utility vehicle. Our mission is to protect and serve the residents of Briarcliffe and its surrounding communities in which we are called upon, with the strong dedication and professionalism of our members.

On 1-14-2012 company 75 was dispatched tp 721 Pearl Ave. for the Building fire. Upon arrival we assisted station 43 and numerous other companies with a 1 story single family dwelling with fire throughout the residence. Company 75 was on scene for approximately 3 hours on this cold winter night.

We recently placed in service a 2011 Type III Life-Line Ambulance on a Dodge 4500 4X4 chassis, thanks to all those who helped with the specs, building and getting this top of the line ambulance in service!!

It has 57,700 miles on it and has new Pa inspection, with new brakes, rear rotors, batteries, starter, 4 new tires. Vehicle was maintained by a local fire truck service center. Car fire with Exposure

Around 6:45 hrs. companies 75 and 77 were dispatched to the rear of Stratford Rd for a vehicle fire. While enroute fireboard advised Engine 75 that pd was on location with a vehicle well off with an exposure problem. 75-9b (Lemmon) upgraded it to a building fire which brought 76 (Darby twp. 4), Ladder 43 (Holmes), and Rit 08 (Prospect Park). Engine 75 arrived on location to a car against the rear of the house with it's engine compartment fully involved. Engine 75's crew put a line in service and knocked the bulk of the fire then gained access to the garage via the K-12 saw. Little extension was found and the scene was placed under control within 10 min. Crews from ladder 43 and Rit 08 put fans in service and checked the houses on either side of the fire building and everything came up negative. Crews remained on location for little over a half an hour.


 
Going to work in Holmes

Just after 23:00 hrs Christmas night, the companies were dispatched to Holmes Rd. for a building fire. Police arrived reporting a working fire and a line was placed in service by members of 43 and 70. Members from engine 75 threw ladders and assisted with opening up. 43-9 had Holmes Rd command. Crews were on scene for a over an hour. While on location company 75 was dispatched on a second emergency for a gas leak on Magnolia. Engine 75 cleared up on Holmes Rd and responded to the second emergency but while enroute was recalled. Companies on location the Holmes Rd fire were 43 (Holmes), 75 (Briarcliffe), 70 (Leedom), 18 (Folsom), 02 (Norwood), Rit 45 (Parkside), and Rit 44 (Springfield).

Pipeline and Engine are made NFPA compliant

Accident with Multiple Injuries

At around 3:00 p.m. Monday Sept. 13, company and ambulance 75 were dispatched to the intersection of Oak and Academy for accident with injuries. Upon Engine 75 arriving on location, we learned that there were not one but 3 injuries. With that 75-9 requested another bls unit for the third victim bringing 03-7. All three victims were transported to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. Engine 75 remained on location for 45min then went available. Along with Engine 75 and 75-7 was 01-7 and 03-7.  


 
   
   
Company 75 on Collingdale Propane Fire

Around 12:30 Wednesday afternoon, Companies were dispatched to Scully's Welding Supply in the borough of collingdale fire a working fire. 75-9 (Ganley) was first on location and advised Fire Board that he had a working fire with numerous explosions. As crews tried to control the blaze, PD and multiple EMS units evacuated about a half mile radius around Scully's in case of further explosions. Crews were eventually told to evacuate the area leaving the master streams in place. Along with many Delco companies, was a foam unit out of Philadelphia, a Boeing Crash unit, and Montco task force. There were 3 civilian injuries and 4 firefighter suffered heat related injuries. 75's crew was on scene for about 5 hours.

We are currently looking for people who want to be firefighters. We give you everything you need to be a firefighter including training. You can stop by any Tuesday night at 7:00pm to pick up an application.

ACTIVE FIREFIGHTER: Must be at least 14 years old
